Ron received his BA from York University and studied law at Queen's University, where he was actively involved in the Legal Aid Program and received the Robertson-Ryan Award for outstanding contribution to that organization.
In 1994 he graduated from Queen’s Faculty of Law and joined the defence firm of Dutton Brock LLP as an articling student. After being called to the Bar of Ontario in 1996, he worked as an associate practicing insurance defence litigation with Malach & Fidler LLP before continuing his practice with the firm of Rachlin & Wolfson for several years.
In 2000 Ron returned to Dutton Brock LLP as an associate before being admitted to the partnership of that firm.
After several years practicing primarily as defence counsel, Ron joined Bergmanis Preyra LLP in 2009 and diversified his practice to include representation of accident victims. He presently acts as the firm’s managing partner.
Ron enjoys teaching and mentoring legal professionals. He has undertaken numerous speaking engagements and has written several articles on the law. In addition, he taught the Litigation for Law Clerks course at Durham College and is the firm’s articling principal.
Ron believes that all people should be treated fairly and with respect and has maintained and acted on that belief throughout his practice both as defence and plaintiff’s counsel. He has a strong reputation as a skilled and intelligent lawyer who practices with honesty and integrity. Ron has appeared before all levels of the Provincial Courts.
